Halali Dam, Vidisha Road, Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh, India

June 29, 2017

It is about 45 kilometers from Bhopal and towards Sanchi – Vidisha Road. Halali dam is known as Samrat Ashok Sagar Project. It is 945 m long with a maximum height of 29.57 m above the foundation level. A catchment area of the project is 699 sq. km, of which is 25 % is hilly, the rest is plain. Halali dam is constructed across Halali River, a tributary of Betwa river.

As a photographer, I found lots of things to click at Halali dam.It is a good place for landscape and waterscape photography. Best for pre-wedding and portfolio shoot. Sunset time is the best option for the photography here.

You can find a waterfall during July to January month near Halali Dam.

The dam has an MP tourism hotel – Halali Retreat, which has about 6 – 8 rooms, nice ambiance, playground for children, Meeting and Party Hall. There is also a restaurant. There’s an arrangement of boating (Pedal and motor boat) to be enjoyed with your friends and family.

My Review and Ratings – Resort Halali Retreat – The hotel staff is very helpful and attentive. Best Playground for children. Good ambiance. Food quality is average. Rooms are clean but you can find small insects and mosquitos due to the lake.

Rating – 8/10

Connectivity – Around 45 km from Bhopal. The road is good. Last 8 km road was in very bad condition, but now it is under construction and will be good in 3-4 months.

Rating – 6/10

Halali Dam – If you are looking for some peace and calm, photographic location, Scenic beauty, enjoyment with friends and family, Halali Dam is a good option for you. Overall good Travel Destination.

Ratting – 8/10
